• Editors & writers: compare drafts and see exactly what changed.
• Developers: diff config files, code snippets, or JSON without opening a full IDE.
• SEO & marketing: compare copy tweaks before/after testing.
Does this tool upload my text?
No. All comparisons happen locally in your browser via JavaScript. This makes it safe for sensitive copy
and internal documents.
What’s the difference between word-based and line-based diff?
Word-based diff splits the text into words and highlights individual word changes –
perfect for paragraphs and emails. Line-based diff compares whole lines, which is often
better for code, bullet lists, and configuration files.
How are additions and deletions highlighted?
In the original panel, removed text is shown in red with a strikethrough.
In the new panel, added text is shown in green. Shared text stays
normal.
Is this as powerful as Git diff?
The PlainBench diff is intentionally simpler and more visual. If you need advanced features like
3-way merges or patch files, Git is better. For quick “what changed?” checks in the browser, this is
faster and friendlier.
Can I use this on my phone?
Yes. The layout is mobile-friendly. On small screens, the inputs and diff panels stack vertically so you
can scroll through the comparison easily.
